| About |
Chris Mayne has always seen more than meets the casual glance. Living a life spent mostly outdoors, he has been in tune with the tides, seasons, and workings of Nature, of which most people are unaware. Whether tending the gardens where he has lived for 40 years, keeping bees, deep sea fishing, free diving, or surfing around the world, he is happiest under the sun and skies. Nowadays, he is devoted to finding and cataloging wild birds species wherever he goes. He has photographed several rare incidents, including the first image of a Sand Hill crane which flew off-course into San Diego County, and a very rare Leucistic Anna's Hummingbird that showed up in Del Mar, CA for just a couple of days. He also captured images of a snipe spotted in the estuaries of San Diego, and a Mangrove Warbler, which made its way up to San Diego from Central America. Chris enjoys traveling for new bird habitats with Carole, his wife of 42 years. Carole is a professional artist and the author of ''Birds of the Week'' newsletter and Best Images from Birds of the Week ~ Inspiration with Wings. You can see her paintings here. |
